EXERCISE 1.
एक दिन एक छोटा लड़का एक पुल के पास खेल रहा था | उसकी आयु केवल बारह वर्ष की थी | किन्तु वह एक साहसी लड़का था | खेलते समय उसने देखा किएक घोड़े ने अपने सवार को पानी मे पटक दिया है | वह अपने कपड़ो सहित पानी मे कूद पड़ा | वह डूबते हुए व्यक्ति के पास तैर कर पहुंचा और उसे किनारे पर ले आया | सब लोगो ने उस लड़के के साहस की प्रसंसा की |
English translation :-
One day a little boy was playing near a bridge. He was only twelve years old. But he was a brave boy. As he was playing, he saw that a horse had thrown its rider into the water. He at once jumped into the water with all his clothes on. He swam up to the drowning man and brought him to the bank. Everybody praised the courage of the boy.

वाशिंगटन को मार्ग मे बहुत सी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा | जब वह रिचमंड पहुंचा, तब उसके पास धन बिल्कुल भी नहीं था | उसका सारा धन रास्ते मे ही समाप्त हो गया था | उस समय वह थका हुआ तथा भूखा था | उसके कपड़े गंदे हो गये थे, किन्तु वह हतोत्साहित नहीं था क्योंकि उसका मनोवल ऊंचा था | शहर मे कोई भी व्यक्ति उसका परिचित नहीं था | वह उस नगर मे रात व्यतीत करना चाहता था | कोई भी व्यक्ति उसे स्थान देने को तैयार नहीं था | वे रात व्यतीत करने के लिए स्थान देने के लिए धन चाहते थे और उसके पास धन नहीं था | अत: वह नहीं समझ सका कि वह क्या करे |
English Translation :-
Washington had to face many difficulties on the way. When he reached Richmond, he had no money. All his money was spent. He was tired and hungry at that time. His clothes were dirty, but he was not discouraged as his spirits were high. He had no acquaintance in the city. He wanted to spend the night in the city. No one was willing to give him the place. They wanted money for lodging to pass the night and he had no money. So he did not know what to do.
EXERCISE 3.
पुराने अच्छे दिन सदैव के लिए चले गये | इस परिवर्तन ने रामू को दुखी बना दिया | लोगों ने पतंग उड़ाने मे रुचि लेना छोड़ दिया था | अतः उसे अपनी दुकान बेचनी पड़ी और अब वह ठुकराया हुआ व्यक्ति दिखाई पड़ने लगा | इसका कारण यह था कि शहरों की जनसंख्या बहुत अधिक होने लगी थी | पतंग उड़ाने के लिए खुली जगहों का अभाव हो गया था वयस्क लोग पतंग उड़ाने के कार्ये को नापसंद करने लगे थे और छोटे बच्चे अपने धन को सिनेमा देखने मे खर्च करना अधिक अच्छा समझने लगे थे | अतः रामू समय के परिवर्तन तथा जनता की बदलती रुचि का शिकार बन गया था |
English Translation :-
The old good days passed away forever. This change made Ramu sad. People left taking an interest in kite flying. So he had to sell his shop and became a neglected person. The reason was that the cities became overcrowded. There were few open spaces for flying kites. Adults disdained kites and children preferred to spend their money at the movies. So Ramu became prey to the change of the time and tastes of the people.
EXERCISE 4.
अनादिकाल से सूर्ये ऊर्जा का स्त्रोत रहा है | हमारा साधारण जीवन सुर्ये के ऊपर निर्भर है | अब हमारे पास ऊर्जा का एक नया साधन भी है | यह हमे सुर्ये से प्राप्त नहीं होती है | यह ऊर्जा अणुओ से प्राप्त होती है | इसीलिए इसे हम अणु ऊर्जा कहते हैं | हममे से प्रत्येक प्राणी और संसार की प्रत्येक वस्तु अणुओ से बनी है | हमारा विश्व केवल 90 प्रकार के अणुओ से बना है | अणु विभिन्न प्रकार के होते है | वे सब बहुत छोटे होते है | वे इतने छोटे होते हैं कि वे हमे दिखलाई नहीं पड़ते हैं|हम किसी भी परिचित वस्तु से इनकी तुलना नहीं कर सकते |
English Translation :-
The sun has been a source of energy from time immemorial. All our ordinary life depends on the sun. now we have a new supply of energy. It does not come from the sun. this energy comes from inside atoms. So it is called atomic energy. Everyone of us as well as everything in the world is made of atoms. Our world is made up of ninety kinds of atoms. Atoms are of different sizes. All of them are very small. They are too small to be seen. We cannot compare them with anything that is familiar to us.
EXERCISE 5.
स्त्रियों की शिक्षा आज के समय की आवश्यकता है | अब भारत देश एक स्वतंत्र देश है | अतः हमारे देश की नारियाँ अपनी मातभूमि की उन्नति के लिए बहुत कार्य कर सकती हैं | शिक्षा के बिना यह कार्य नहीं किया जा सकता | वे सामाजिक, राजनीतिक एवं प्रशासनिक क्षेत्र मे बहुत कार्य कर सकती हैं | हमारे देश मे लड़कियों की शिक्षा केए प्रसार अधिक नहीं है | अतः लड़कियों के कालिजों तथा स्कूलों को मान्यता एवं प्रोत्साहन दिया जाना चाहिए |
English Translation :-
Women’s education is the need of the day. India is now free. So our women do much for the progress of their motherland. Without education, this work cannot be done. They can do much in social, political, and administrative spheres. Girl’s education is not widespread enough in our country. So colleges and schools for girls’ education are worthy of recognition and encouragement.

EXERCISE 6.
एक बार एक किसान अपने दरवाजे पर खड़ा था। तभी एक भूखा फकीर वहां आया और किसान से कुछ खाने को कहा। किसान ने कहा, मेरे पास तुम्हें देने के लिए कुछ नहीं है। तब फकीर ने पीने के लिए पानी मांगा, किसान ने फकीर को गाली दी और जाने को कहा उदास फकीर वहाँ से चला गया। कुछ दिनों बाद किसान जंगल में अपना रास्ता भूल गया, किसान ने एक फकीर की झोपड़ी देखी और वहाँ चला गया। किसान उससे उसके घर का रास्ता पूछने लगा। फकीर ने कहा, बहुत दूर है और सूरज ढलने वाला है। रात को झोंपड़ी में बिताएं। यदि तुम जंगल में रहोगे तो जंगली जानवर तुम्हें खा जाएंगे। तो किसान ने उस झोंपड़ी में रात बिताई। सुबह फकीर किसान को रास्ता दिखाते हुए उसके साथ चला गया। रास्ते में फकीर ने उससे पूछा कि क्या तुम मुझे पहचानते हो, किसान ने फकीर को पहचान लिया और बहुत लज्जित हुआ
English Translation :-
Once a farmer was standing at his door. Then a hungry fakir came there and asked the farmer to eat something. The farmer said I have nothing to give you. Then the fakir asked for water to drink, and the farmer abused the fakir and asked him to leave. The sad fakir left from there. After a few days, the farmer forgot his way into the forest, the farmer saw a fakir’s hut and went there. The farmer started asking him the way to his house. The fakir said, it is far away and the sun is about to set. Spend the night in the hut. If you stay in the forest, wild animals will eat you. So the farmer spent the night in that hut. In the morning the fakir went with the farmer showing the way. On the way the fakir asked him do you recognize me, the farmer recognized the fakir and was very ashamed.

EXERCISE 7.
ज्वेलर के यहां चोरी करते एक युवक पकड़ा गया। इस जुर्म के लिए जज ने उसे मौत की सजा सुनाई। जेलर ने उससे पूछा कि क्या तुम फांसी से पहले कुछ नहीं कहना चाहते हो। उसने अपनी मां से मिलने की इच्छा जाहिर की जब उसकी माँ उसके पास आई, तो उसने कहा, मैं तुम्हारे कान में कुछ कहना चाहता हूँ। जैसे ही महिला ने अपना कान उसके पास रखा। युवक ने उसका कान काट लिया। सभी ने पूछा, तुमने ऐसा क्रूर कृत्य क्यों किया? उसने कहा कि बचपन में जब मैं चोरी करता था तो मुझ पर गुस्सा होने की बजाय मदद करती थी और कहती थी। “निश्चिंत रहो, किसी को पता नहीं चलेगा।” इसी कारण आज मुझे फांसी लग रही है
English Translation :-
A young man was caught stealing at a jeweler’s place. The judge sentenced him to death for this crime. The jailer asked him if you do not want to say anything before hanging. He expressed his desire to meet his mother. His last wish was accepted. When his mother came near him, he said, I want to say something in your ear. As the woman put her ear near him. The young man cut off her ear. Everyone asked, why did you do such a cruel act? He said that when I used to steal as a child, instead of getting angry at me, she used to help and say. Rest assured, no one will know. That’s why I’m being hanged today.
EXERCISE 8.
मुश्किल हो या आसान, पर्याप्त आय हो या कम आय। हाथ में जो काम आ जाए, उसे अवश्य कर लेना चाहिए और जितनी योग्यता हो उसका निर्वाह करना चाहिए । बेकार बैठे रहने वाले आदमी की अपेक्षा किसी काम में लगे रहने वाले व्यक्ति को ऊँचा पद प्राप्त करने की सम्भावना अधिक रहती है । बहुत दिन हुए जब मैं तुम्हारी जैसी स्थिति में था तब आठ आने रोज मजदूरी पर कुली के काम से कोई बेहतर काम मुझे नही मिला । मैं तुरंत उसे करने लगा। आज मैं इस कारखाने का एकमात्र स्वामी हूं। नव युवक ने यह कहा यह करीब 40 वर्ष पहले की बात है। उस समय व्यापार की दशा कुछ और ही थी । सज्जन ने उत्तर दिया कि स्थिति और व्यवस्था की कोई कमी नहीं है। मेहनती व्यक्ति को ऊँचे पद की आशा में बेकार बैठे रहने से कोई लाभ नहीं होता। उसे जो भी काम दिया जा रहा है, उसे तुरंत स्वीकार कर लेना चाहिए। भले ही वह नगण्य ही क्यों न हो। एक दिन वह अवश्य ही सफल होगा।
English Translation :-
Be it difficult or easy enough income or low income. Whatever work comes in hand, he must do it and he should perform as much as he can. A person who is engaged in some work is more likely to get a higher position than a person who sits idle. Many days when I was in a situation like yours, I could not find any better job than a porter’s work for eight annas per day. I immediately started doing it. Today I am the sole owner of this factory. The young man said this about 40 years ago. At that time the condition of business was different. The gentleman replied that there was no dearth of condition and order. The hardworking man does not get any benefit from sitting idle in the hope of my position. Whatever work is being offered to him, he should accept it immediately. Even if it is insignificant. One day he will surely be successful.
