USE OF SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Simple Present Tense के Use को अच्छी तरह से समझने के लिए सबसे पहले हम Tense के बारे मे जनेगे |
Tense क्या होता है-
किसी भी sentence मे कार्य के समय के अनुसार Verb के रूप मे जो परिवेर्तन आता है उसे ही Tense कहते हैं |
( Tense changes the form of the Verb to express the time of an action )
या TIME + SENSE = TENSE
यानि समय का बोध ही Tense कहलाता है |
Kinds of Tense –
- Present Tense (वर्तमान काल)
- Past Tense (भूतकाल)
- Future Tense (भविष्यकाल)
- Present Tense : किसी कार्य के वर्तमान समय मे होने या करने, हो रहा है, हो चुका है या हो गया है तथा एक लंबे समय से होता रहा है, का बोध हो तो उसे Present Tense कहते है | Present Tense के चार उपभेद होते हैं-
- Present Indefinite Tense/Simple Present Tense (सामान्य वर्तमान काल)
- Present Continuous/Progressive Tense (अपूर्ण/तात्कालिक वर्तमान काल)
- Present Perfect Tense (पूर्ण वर्तमान काल)
- Present Perfect Continuous Tense (पूर्ण तात्कालिक काल)
EXAMPLES _
- I read a book. मैं पुस्तक पढ़ता हूँ | (Present Indefinite Tense)
- I am reading a book. मैं पुस्तक पढ़ रहा हूँ | (Present Continuous Tense)
- I have read a book. मैं पुस्तक पढ़ चुका हूँ | (Present Perfect Tense)
- I have been reading a book for an hour. मैं एक घंटा से पुस्तक पढ़ता रहा हूँ | (Pre.Per.Con.Tense)
Simple Present Tense
Structure – S + M. V1 / M. V5 + O
S = Subject O = Object
M.V1= Main Verb की first form (जब Subject Plural होता है तो M.V1 का use करते हैं) जैसे –
- हम फूटबाल खेलते हैं – We play the football.
M.V5= Main Verb की First Form के साथ s या es जोड़ देते हैं जैसे –
- राम स्कूल जाता है – Ram goes to school.

Use of Simple Present Tense
RULE (1) :
Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग habitual or regular action (नियमित या स्वाभाविक कार्य) को express करने के लिए किया जाता है | जैसे –
- Ramesh goes to bed at 10 P.M. (रमेश रात 10 बजे सो जाता है |)
- He always comes here on Monday. (वह हमेशा सोमवार को यहाँ आता है |)
- She reads a newspaper every morning. (वह हर सुबह एक अखबार पढ़ती है |)
- We work six hours a day. (हम दिन मे छः घंटे कम करते हैं |)
- She takes tea without sugar. (वह बिना चीनी की चाय पिटी है |)
- We live at Kanpur. (हम कानपुर मे रहते हैं |)
- I get up at 5 a.m. every morning. (मैं हर सुबह 5 बजे उठता हूँ |)
NOTE :- समान्यतः Time expressing Adverbs (समयसूचक क्रिया विश्लेषण) जैसे – always, often, generally, usually, sometimes, rarely, occasionally, seldom, hardly, never, habitually, daily, every day, every morning, every evening, every week, every month, every year, once a day, once a week, once a month, twice a day, twice a week, twice a month आदि का प्रयोग habitual or regular or repeated action को express करने के लिए किया जाता है | कि उपरोक्त Adverbs का प्रयोग होने पर, Simple Present Tense का use होता है | जैसे –
- She always comes here at night. (वह हमेशा रात को यहाँ आती है |)
- He sometimes comes here at night. (वह कभी कभी रात को यहाँ आता है |)
- She rarely comes here at night. (वह रात मे यहाँ कम ही आती है |)
- He often comes here at night. (वह अक्सर रात मे यहाँ आता है |)
- She usually comes here at night. (वह अक्सर रात मे यहाँ आती है |)
- He never comes here at night. (वह यहाँ रात मे कभी नहीं आता है |)
RULE (2) :
इस Tense का प्रयोग possession (अधिकार) को express करने के लिए किया जाता है| जैसे –
- This pen belongs to me. (यह कलम मेरा है |)
- He owns a big building. (वह एक बड़ी इमारत का मालिक है |)
- I have a car. (मेरे पास एक कार है |)
RULE (3) :
Universal truth principle (सिद्धान्त) तथा permanent activities को express करने के लिए इस Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है | जैसे –
- Man is mortal. (आदमी नश्वर है |)
- The sun rises in the east. (सूरज पूरव मे निकलता है |)
- Two and two makes four. (दो और दो चार होता है |)
- The Ganges springs from the Himalayas. (गंगा हिमालया से निकलती है |)
- The water boils at 100o (पानी 100oC पर उबलता है |)
RULE (4) :
Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग आने वाले समय मे होने वाले सुनियोजित कार्यक्रम (fixed programme) तथा सुनियोजित योजना (fixed plan) को express करने के लिए किया जाता है | इससे future time का बोध होता है | जैसे –
- He goes to Mumbai next week. (वह अगले हफ्ते मुंबई जायेगा |)
- The college reopens in July. (कॉलेज जुलाई मे फिर से खुलता है |)
- The Chief Minister comes here tomorrow. (मुख्य मंत्री कल यहाँ आएंगे |)
- My sister returns tomorrow. (मेरी बहन कल आएगी |)
- He leaves for New York next Sunday. (वह अगले रविवार न्यूयॉर्क के लिए रवाना होगा |)
NOTE :- इन sentences मे future time expressing Adverbs जैसे – tomorrow, next day, next week, next month, next year, In January, In February…, on Monday, on Sunday…,etc. का use निश्चित रूप से रहता है |
RULE (5) :
इस Tense का प्रयोग mental activity (मानसिक क्रियाकलाप), emotions तथा feelings को express करने के लिए किया जाता है | जैसे –
- We believe in God. (हम ईश्वर मे यकीन करते हैं)
- I know that you cannot do this. (मुझे पता है कि आप ऐसा नहीं कर सकते)
- He trusts in her. (उसे उस पर भरोसा है)
- She understands my problem. (वो मेरी परेशानियों को समझती है)
- I consider that she is a good dancer. (मैं मानता हूँ कि वह एक अच्छी डांसर है)
NOTE :- See, hear, smell, notice, recognize, look, appear, want, wish, seem, desire, like, feel, hope, love, hate, refuse, think, prefer, believe, agree, suppose, consider , trust, remember, forget, know, mean, mind, imagine, understand etc का प्रयोग mental activity को express करने के लिए किया जाता है | अतः इन Verbs का प्रयोग Simple Present Tense मे होता है| यदि इन Verbs का प्रयोग Present Continuous Tense मे होता है तो इनका विशेष अर्थ होता है |
RULE (6) :
आंखो देखा हाल प्रसारण (मैच, कार्यक्रम, आयोजन, सीरियल, फिल्म आदि) रेडियो या टेलिविजन के through करने के लिए Simple present tense का use होता है | जैसे –
- MS Dhoni runs after the ball, catches it and throws it on the stumps.
- In this film, my younger sister plays the role of Sita.
RULE (7) :
इतिहास के बीते हुए घटनाओं (past events) को जीवंत या ताजा बनाकर दिखने के लिए इस Tense use होता है |
जैसे –
- Babar crosses the plains, Ibrahim opposes him with a large army.
RULE (8) :
Author (लेखक) के statement (कथन) को express करने के लिए Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है |
जैसे –
- Shakespeare says, “The course of true love never runs smooth”.
- Mother Teresa says, “Peace begins with a smile”.
