Once upon a time, there lived a parrot, a rat, and an ant in the jungle. They were best friends. The parrot had her nest on the branch of a banyan tree. The ant lived anthill in and beneath the tree while the rat lived in a hole in the tree They neighbors. One day there was a competition in the forest. All the participants were asked to bring the food of their choice and the one whose food was found the tastiest would win the prize. The three friends also decided to participate in it. All the animals started collecting what they thought was the best food. Bees collected honey. The fox collected grapes and so on. Everybody was busy. The parrot said, ” Hey, friends! Do you know that all others are ready for tomorrow’s contest? And we haven’t decided anything yet. ” The ant replied, ” Let us participate jointly “. The parrot and the rat were surprised. They asked ” jointly, ” What do you mean? ” The Ant explained her idea to them, ” Look, we shall bring food items liked by each one of us. Let us cook it together. And I’m sure whatever result of it will be delicious because it says that the result of togetherness is always good. The ant said, ” I can get sugar. ” The rat said, ” I will get milk. ” The parrot said, ” I will get rice grains. ” Then the three friends cooked a dish with their favourite items. When the dish was cooked, the ant tasted it first. The ant said, ” Lovely ! It’s wonderful “. Then the parrot tasted it and said, ” Wow! I have never tasted such a dish before. ” The rat said, ” Delicious! We have cooked the best! ” Their dish was declared the best and won the first prize. The rat happily said, ” Results of togetherness are the best, indeed! “
2. Wisdom is Better than Strength
There was a small city-state called Zamba. The people of Zamba were rich. They had created great walls all around the city-state to safeguard it from enemies. Once an adjoining state attacked zamba. All the villages lying outside the walls were captured by them. However, the enemy could not enter through the strong gates and walls. So they thought of surrounding the city for a long time so that the people of Zamba would starve for want of food and surrender before them. After four months the king summoned all the people and said, ” We have exhausted everything. It may not be possible for us to continue with our resistance, because now we would all starve and die of hunger. ” The people agreed to surrender before the enemy. Just then a little ten years old girl named Sita arrived at the court. ” I can save the state from the enemy,” said Sita. ” I want only a sheep.” A sheep was brought to the king’s court. Sita asked for rice and gram. Some gram and rice were brought. Feed this rice and gram to the sheep, ” said Sita. The rice and gram were fed to the sheep. ” Now open the gates of the city and leave this sheep to go into the fields, ” said Sita. The sheep was let out of the city gate. People saw the enemy soldiers approaching and taking away the sheep. The next day, people climbed on the city wall to look for the enemy. But They could not see any enemy. People informed the king. The king summoned Sita to the court. ” How did the enemy go away ? ” asked the king. Sita replied, ” The sheep was taken away by the enemy. They tore its stomach open. They found rice and gram in it. Seeing that we have enough food even to feed our animals, they thought that it was not possible to defeat Zamba. So, they all went away.” Everyone praised the little girl for his intelligence.
3. Think Before You Act
There was a farmer lived with his wife in a village. They had a little son. Both the farmer and his wife had to go to work in the field in the morning. They had a mongoose as a pet. The mongoose was a very faithful animal. They loved and cared for him very much. The mongoose looked after the baby in their absence. Once the farmer and his wife went out, she fed her son and put him to sleep in the little cradle. The baby was asleep. Suddenly a snake came out of its hole. It went near the sleeping child. The mongoose saw it. It, at once jumped upon the snake. In this fight, the snake was badly wounded and killed. While fighting with the snake the mongoose was stained with blood. The faithful mongoose saved their child from the snake. After this the mongoose sat at the gate waiting for the farmer and his wife to return, Some time later the farmer and his wife came back to the house from the field. She found the mongoose sitting outside whose mouth was stained with blood. They at once thought that the mongoose had killed their child. So they lost their temper. The farmer’s wife picked up a stick and killed the mongoose. When they went to the room where the son was sleeping they found their child quite safe and saw a dead snake lying nearby. Seeing this, they understood the whole matter. Now they realized their mistake. They began to cry loudly. Due to their haste, they had to lose their faithful animal. The farmer’s wife felt very sad and with tearful eyes picked up the dead mongoose.
4. Sour Grapes
A fox was trotting on, one day. And just above his head, He saw a vine with lovely grapes. Rich, ripe, and purple-red. Eager, he tried to snatch the fruit, But, ah! It was too high! And poor fox had to give it up. And, heaving a deep sigh. He curled his nose and said, ” Dear me! I would not waste an hour Upon such mean and common fruit, I’m sure these grapes are sour! “
5. Work Hard to Eat Well
An ant and a grasshopper were neighbours. They were friends. It was summer, but not very hot, it was pleasant and sunny. Trees wore leaves, flowers, and fruits everywhere. The grasshopper was very happy. He fed on leaves. Then he sang and danced. He had nothing to care about in life. Ant was very hard-working she went out to work in the morning and returned home late in the evenings. Then she stored food in her house. Every day she stored some food. One day, the ant asked the grasshopper, ” Why don’t you store some food daily? You can eat it later. ” Oh, why should I ? ” said the grasshopper. ” There’s plenty of food here. I don’t want to store anything. ” So he ate, sang, danced and slept. It so happened that the winter that year was very harsh. The weather was extremely cold and there was snow everywhere. No one could come out of their houses in search of food. The ant stayed in her house. She had stored a lot of food. She was happy. The grasshopper had nothing to eat. He was hungry. He looked around for food. But there was no food. He felt miserable. At last, moved by hunger, he went to the ant’s house. ” I’ve no food “, he said. ” I am starving. You have plenty of food. Can you give me something to eat, ” ” Why didn’t you store food ? ” asked the ant. ” Oh, I was too happy to store food. All through the summer I sang and danced, ” said the grasshopper with his head down. ” I have only enough food for myself. Sorry, I can’t give you anything, ” said the ant. The grasshopper was starving. He felt miserable. But he had learnt a lesson. “If you want to eat and live well, you must work hard and only those who work hard throughout the year get good results. So remember, hard work may not be easy, but its fruits are sweet. Try for yourself.
