1. Ant and Pigeon:

One hot day, an ant was looking for water. After walking for some time, he saw a waterfall. He had to climb a leaf of grass to reach the waterfall. While making the way, she slipped and fell into the water. She could have drowned if the pigeon climbing on a nearby tree had not seen her. Seeing the ant in trouble, the pigeon hurriedly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and climbed on it. Soon, the leaf went to dry ground, and the ant jumped out. She was safe at last. At the same time, a hunter nearby was about to cast his net in the hope of trapping a pigeon. Thinking about what he was about to do, the ant quickly nipped at his heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net. Seeing this the pigeon immediately took off safely and saved its life.

A good deed gives new birth to others as well as oneself.

चींटी और कबूतर:

एक गर्म दिन, एक चींटी पानी की तलाश में थी। कुछ देर चलने के बाद उसे एक झरना दिखाई दिया। झरने तक पहुंचने के लिए उसे घास के एक पत्ते पर चढ़ना पड़ा। रास्ता बनाते समय वह फिसल कर पानी में गिर गई।अगर पास के पेड़ पर चढ़े कबूतर ने उसे नहीं देखा होता तो वह डूब सकती थी। चींटी को संकट में देखकर कबूतर ने झट से एक पत्ता तोड़ा और संघर्षरत चींटी के पास पानी में गिरा दिया। चींटी पत्ती की ओर बढ़ी और उस पर चढ़ गई। जल्द ही, पत्ता सूखी जमीन पर चला गया, और चींटी बाहर कूद गई। वह अंत में सुरक्षित थी। उसी समय पास में एक शिकारी कबूतर को फँसाने की उम्मीद में अपना जाल डालने ही वाला था।यह सोचकर कि वह क्या करने वाला है, चींटी जल्दी से उसकी एड़ी पर डस लिया। दर्द को महसूस करते हुए शिकारी ने अपना जाल गिरा दिया। यह देख कबूतर ने फौरन सुरक्षित उड़ान भरी और अपनी जान बचा ली।

एक अच्छा कर्म दूसरों के साथ-साथ खुद को भी नया जन्म देता है।

2. Money can’t buy everything:

Nick was a 10-year-old boy. He was the only son of his parents. Nick’s father was a very busy businessman who could not spend time with his son. He would come home after Nick had slept and left for the office before Nick woke up in the morning. Nick yearned to get his father’s attention. Like his friends, he wanted to go out and play with his father. One day in the evening, Nick was surprised to see his father at home. “Dad, it’s great to see you at home,” said Nick. “Yes son, my appointment got cancelled. So I am at home. But after two hours I have to catch a flight,” replied his father. “When will you come back?” “Tomorrow afternoon.” Nick was in deep thought for a while. Then he asked, “Dad, how much do you earn in a year?” Nick’s father was stunned. He said, “My dear son, this is a huge amount and you will not understand it.” “Okay dad, are you happy with your earnings?” “Yes, my dear. I am very happy, and I am planning to start my new branch and a new business in a few months. Isn’t that great?” “Yeah, Dad. I’m glad to hear that. Can I ask you one more question?” “Yes, friend.” “Dad, can you tell me how much you earn in a day or half a day?” “Nick, why are you asking this question?” Nick’s father was shocked. But Nick was stubborn. “Please answer me. Can you please tell me how much you earn in an hour?” Nick’s father replied, “It would be about $25/- an hour.” Nick ran upstairs to his room and came downstairs with his piggy bank that contained his savings. “Dad, I have $50 in my piggy bank. Can you spare two hours for me? I want to go to the beach tomorrow evening and have dinner with you. Can you please mark this on your schedule? ” Nick’s father was speechless.

The biggest gift a parent can give to their child is their time. Money can’t buy everything!

3. Three Sons and a Bundle of Sticks:

Once upon a time, an old man lived with his three sons in a village. The three sons were hard workers. Still, they quarrelled all the time. The old man tried a lot to unite them but he failed. Though the villagers appreciated their hard work and efforts, they made fun of them on their fights. Months passed by and the old man fell sick. He told his sons to stay united, but they didn’t listen to him. So, he decided to teach them a practical lesson so that they would forget their differences and stay united. The old man called his sons. He told them, “I will give you a bundle of sticks. Separate each stick and you will have to break each stick into two. The one who breaks the sticks quickly will be rewarded more.” The sons agreed. The old man gave a bundle of 10 sticks to each of them and asked them to break each stick into pieces. They broke the sticks into pieces in minutes. And again they started to quarrel among themselves as to who came first. The old man said, “Dear sons, the game is not over. Now I will give another bundle of sticks to each of you. You will have to break the sticks as a bundle, not as separate sticks.” The sons agreed and tried to break the bundle of sticks. Though they tried their best, they could not break the bundle. They failed to complete the task. The three sons reported their failure to their father. Breaking bundle of sticks The old man replied, “Dear sons, See! You could easily break the single sticks into pieces, but you were not able to break the bundle! So, if you stay united, nobody can do any harm to you. If you quarrel every time with your brothers, anyone can easily defeat you. I request you to stay united.” The three sons understood the power of unity and promised their father that whatever the situation, they would all stay together.

Moral: Unity is Strength!

तीन बेटे और लाठी का एक बंडल:

नैतिक: एकता में शक्ति है!

4. Thomas Edison’s Childhood:

One day Thomas Edison came home and gave a paper to his mother. He told his mother that his teacher gave this paper to him and said, “Give this to your mother.” His mother opens it and reads the paper. After reading the paper her eyes filled with tears. Thomas asked his mother about what was written in the paper. She read the whole letter in loud voice to her son, “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and we don’t have enough resources and good teachers to train him. Please teach him yourself.” After many years, Now Edison’s mother died and he has become one of the greatest inventors. One day while Thomas was looking into old family things he saw a folded paper in the corner of his desk drawer. He took it and open it. He read the paper. “Your son is mentally ill and we won’t let him come to school anymore.” was written on the paper. It was the same paper which was given to him by his teacher in school to give to his mother. After reading that Edison cried for hours and wrote in his diary, “Thomas Alva Edison was an addled(mentally ill) child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century.”

Moral:
One should Never Give up. We need to be confident in ourselves and move ahead in life with a Positive Attitude and Hard work.

थॉमस एडिसन बचपन:

5. Overcoming Desires:

Once upon a time, there was a man who had bigger desires than life. He tried everything to earn money and fulfil his desires but was not successful. One day he attended a Satsang and then followed the path of the saint. Now he has become a saint and he is no longer longing for anything. He used to be mentally satisfied and happy with the practice of yoga, and meditation. Once he sat for a long time and prayed dedicatedly to the Lord. The Lord was pleased with his dedication and came to him and asked him to ask for anything. The saint replied that “When I wished for things, you never gave them to me and now when I don’t wish for anything you want me to ask you whatever I want. Now I have nothing.” should.” The Lord said, “You have conquered your senses of desire and do what pleases me. Your desires were the only obstacle between you and me. Now that is no longer a hindrance to lust and your heart is pure. So I owe you something.” I want.” The saint thought for a while and said, “I want the power to heal sick people with just one touch and dry trees come back to life with my touch.” God agreed and granted his wish. The saint paused for a moment and said, “I want to make a slight change in my will. I wish that I could heal sick people and dry hair, not by my touch but by the presence of my shadow on it. The Lord asked, “Is there any doubt in being healed by touch?” The saint replied, “No Lord, but I don’t want people to know that they can benefit from my touch. Because once a person feels that he has the power he can easily go through this life cycle and desires. Then this power you have given me will do more evil to me than good. I want to quietly help people.”

moral:
Excessive desire is the cause of mental misery. We should have the spirit of helping others but without thinking that we are doing them a favour.

इच्छाओं पर काबू पाना:

एक बार एक आदमी था जिसकी जीवन से बड़ी इच्छाएं थीं। उसने पैसा कमाने और अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा करने के लिए सब कुछ करने की कोशिश की लेकिन सफल नहीं हुआ। एक दिन वह एक सत्संग में शामिल हुए और उसके बाद संत के मार्ग पर चल पड़े। अब वह संत बन गया और किसी चीज की उसकी लालसा अब नहीं रही। योग, ध्यान के अभ्यास से वे मानसिक रूप से संतुष्ट और प्रसन्न रहते थे। एक बार वे लंबे समय तक बैठे रहे और भगवान को समर्पित प्रार्थना की। भगवान उनके समर्पण से प्रसन्न हुए और उनके पास आए और उनसे कुछ भी मांगने के लिए कहा। संत ने उत्तर दिया कि, “जब मैं चीजों की कामना करता था, तो आपने मुझे कभी नहीं दिया और अब जब मैं किसी चीज की कामना नहीं करता तो आप चाहते हैं कि मैं आपसे कुछ भी मांगूं जो मैं चाहता हूं। अब मुझे कुछ नहीं चाहिए।” भगवान ने कहा, “आपने अपनी इच्छा की इंद्रियों पर विजय प्राप्त की है और जो मुझे प्रसन्न करता है। तुम्हारी इच्छाएं तुम्हारे और मेरे बीच एकमात्र बाधा थीं। अब वह वासना की बाधा नहीं है और तुम्हारा हृदय शुद्ध है। इसलिए मैं तुम्हें कुछ देना चाहता हूं।” संत ने कुछ देर सोचा और कहा, “मुझे बीमार लोगों को सिर्फ एक स्पर्श से ठीक करने की शक्ति चाहिए और सूखे पेड़ मेरे स्पर्श से उनके जीवन में वापस आ गए।” भगवान ने सहमति व्यक्त की और उनकी इच्छा को पूरा किया। संत एक पल के लिए रुके और बोले, “मैं अपनी इच्छा में थोड़ा बदलाव करना चाहता हूं। मैं चाहता हूं कि मैं अपने स्पर्श से नहीं बल्कि उस पर अपनी छाया की उपस्थिति से बीमार लोगों और सूखे बालों को ठीक कर सकूं। भगवान ने पूछा, “क्या स्पर्श से ठीक होने में कोई संदेह है?” संत ने उत्तर दिया, “नहीं भगवान, लेकिन मैं नहीं चाहता कि लोगों को पता चले कि वे मेरे स्पर्श से लाभान्वित हो सकते हैं। क्योंकि एक बार जब व्यक्ति को लगता है कि उसके पास शक्ति है तो वह आसानी से इस जीवन चक्र और इच्छाओं में वापस आ सकता है। तब यह शक्ति जो तू ने मुझे दी है वह भलाई से अधिक मेरे साथ बुराई करेगी। मैं चुपचाप लोगों की मदद करना चाहता हूं।”

नैतिक:
अत्यधिक इच्छा ही मानसिक दु:ख का कारण है। हमें दूसरों की मदद करने की भावना रखनी चाहिए लेकिन बिना यह सोचे कि हम उन पर उपकार कर रहे हैं।

6. Thirsty crow:

One hot day, a thirsty crow flew for a long time in search of water, but there was no sign of water. He felt very weak, almost giving up hope. Suddenly, he saw a pot of water below him. He flew straight down to see if there was any water. Yes, he could see some water inside the pot! The crow tried to put his head in the pot. Sadly, he found that the neck of the pot was too narrow. Then he tried to push the pot down to get the water out. He found that the pot was very heavy. The crow thought for a while. Then he looked around him, he saw some pebbles. He suddenly got a good idea. He started picking up the pebbles one by one, dropping each one into the pot. As the pebbles kept getting filled in the pot, the water level increased. Soon it became high enough for the crows to drink. His plan had worked! If you try your best then soon you can get a solution to your problem.

प्यासा कौआ:
