PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
( Introduction with Examples )
Present Continuous Tense को Present Imperfect या Present Progressive Tense भी कहते हैं | Present Continuous Tense के वाक्यों से यह ज्ञात होता है कि कार्य अभी पूरा नहीं हुआ है, बल्कि जारी है |
पहचान – इस Tense मे क्रिया के अंत मे ‘रहा है, रही है, रहा हूँ, रहे हो’ आदि शब्द आते हैं और कार्य के लगातार होते रहने का समय नहीं दिया जाता है |
EXAMPLES –
- राम बाजार जा रहा है |
Ram is going to market.
- मैं बाजार जा रहा हूँ |
I am going to market.
- रश्मि बाजार जा रही है |
Rashmi is going to market.
- वे बाजार जा रहे हैं |
They are going to market.
Types of Present Continuous Tense –
Present Continuous Tense को चार भागों मे बांटते हैं जो निम्न प्रकार हैं –
- AFFIRMATIVE (Positive) SENTENCES
- NEGATIVE SENTENCES
- INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
- NEGATIVE INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
1. AFFIRMATIVE (Positive) SENTENCES
Affirmative Sentences को Positive Sentences भी कहते हैं इन वाक्यों के अंत ‘रहा है, रही है, रहा हूँ, रहे हैं’ आदि शब्द आते हैं|
RULE OF TRANSLATION –
Subject + Helping Verb (is, am, are) +Main Verb (ing) + Object
EXAMPLES of Affirmative Sentences
- मैं परीक्षा दे रहा हूँ |
I am taking examination.
- हम अपना पाठ याद कर रहें हैं |
We are learning our lessons.
- माताजी रामायण पढ़ रहीं हैं |
Mother is reading the Ramayana.
- पिताजी ऑफिस जा रहे हैं |
Father is going to office.
- वे सड़क पर दौड़ रहे हैं |
They are running on the road.
- मोर छत पर नाच रहा है |
The peacock is dancing on the roof.
- बच्चे हाल मे शोर मचा रहे हैं |
Children are making a noise in the hall.
- सूर्य पूरव मे निकाल रहा है |
The sun is rising in the east.
- आप परीक्षा ले रहें हैं |
You are giving examination.
- चाँद आकाश मे चमक रहा है |
The moon is shining in the sky.
NOTE – Present Continuous Tense के वाक्यों मे Main Verb के साथ ing जोड़ देते हैं | इसे Verb की Present Participle Form भी कहते हैं | Is, Am, Are वाक्य की सहायक क्रिया (helping Verb) होती है |
2. NEGATIVE SENTENCES
Negative Sentences मे ‘नहीं’ का प्रयोग होता है और ‘नहीं’ सहायक क्रिया तथा मुख्य क्रिया के बीच मे आता है |
RULE OF TRANSLATION –
Subject + Helping Verb + Not + Main Verb (ing) + Object
EXAMPLES of Negative Sentences
- मैं उपन्यास नहीं पढ़ रही हूँ |
I am not reading a novel.
- वे गंगा मे स्नान नहीं कर रहे हैं |
They are not bathing in the Ganga.
- रमेश झूठ नहीं बोल रहा है |
Ramesh is not telling a lie.
- गवाह सच नहीं बोल रहा है |
The witness is not speaking the truth.
- वे खाना नहीं खा रहे हैं |
They are not eating the food.
- जज साहब मुकदमे की सुनवाई नहीं कर रहे हैं |
The judge is not hearing the case.
- हम अपने दोस्तो की प्रतीक्षा नहीं कर रहे हैं |
We are not waiting for our friends.
- आज बारिश नहीं हो रही है |
It is not raining today.
3. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
a. First Type (‘क्या’ से आरंभ होने वाले वाक्य )
RULE OF TRANSLATION –
Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object
EXAMPLES of Interrogative Sentences (First Type)
- क्या नदी पुल के नीचे बह रही है ?
Is the river flowing under the bridge?
- क्या परिंदे चहचहा रहे हैं ?
Are the birds chirping?
- क्या वह कमरे मे किताब नहीं पढ़ रही है ?
Is she not reading a book in the room?
- क्या यह सुनार तुम्हारी अंगूठी नहीं बना रहा है ?
Is the goldsmith not making your ring?
- क्या तुम आज लखनऊ नहीं जा रहे हो ?
Are you not going to Lucknow today?
b. Second Type (वाक्य के बीच मे प्रश्नसूचक वाले वाक्य)
RULE OF TRANSLATION
Question Word + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object
EXAMPLES of Interrogative Sentences (Second type)
- वह अब क्या कर रही है ?
What is she doing now?
- यह बच्चा अब क्यों रो रहा है ?
Why is this child weeping now?
- चपरासी कहाँ सो रहा है ?
Where is the peon sleeping?
- तुम किसे बुला रहे हो ?
Whom are you calling?
- तुम्हें कौन बुला रहा है ?
Who is calling you?
- वह किसकी पुस्तक पढ़ रहा है ?
Whose book is he reading?
- तुम कौन सा समाचार पत्र खरीद रहे हो ?
Which newspaper are you buying?
NOTE – जिन प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों का उत्तर ‘हाँ’ या ‘नहीं’ मे दे सकते हैं तो उन वाक्यों को First Type के अनुसार बनाते हैं |
जिनका उत्तर ‘हाँ’ या ‘नहीं’ मे नहीं दे सकते तो उन वाक्यों को Second Type के अनुसार बनाते हैं |
4. NEGATIVE INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
इन Sentences मे ‘प्रश्नसूचक शब्द’ के साथ साथ ‘नहीं’ का भी प्रयोग होता है |
RULE OF TRANSLATION –
(WH) + Helping Verb + Subject + Not + Main Verb + Object
EXAMPLES of Negative Interrogative Sentences
- क्या तुम अपना पाठ याद नहीं कर रहे हो ?
Are you not learning your lesson?
- क्या राम का भाई अपना कार्य नहीं कर रहा है ?
Is Ram’s brother not doing his work?
- क्या बैंक मैनेजर अकाउंट की जांच नहीं कर रहा है ?
Is the bank manager not checking the account?
- मोहन कौन सी पुस्तक नहीं पढ़ रहा है ?
Which book is Mohan not reading?
- वह स्कूल क्यों नहीं जा रहा है ?
Why is he not going to school?
Exercise of Present Continuous Tense
- मास्टर साहब हाजिरी ले रहे हैं |
Teacher is taking attendance.
- कुछ अध्यापक पुस्तकालय मे समाचार पत्र पढ़ रहे हैं |
Some teachers are reading newspapers in the library.
- काला कुत्ता अजनबी पर भौंक रहा है |
Black dog is barking at stranger.
- मैं तुम्हें नहीं बुला रहा हूँ |
I am not calling you.
- मेरे बढ़े भाई दिल्ली से नहीं आ रहे हैं |
My elder brother is not coming from Delhi.
- ये मजदूर आज पार्क मे काम नहीं कर रहे हैं |
These workers are not in the park today.
- तुम मेरी सहायता क्यों नहीं कर रहे हो ?
Why are you not helping me?
- क्या रमेश परीक्षा मे नकल कर रहा है ?
Is Ramesh cheating in the exam?
- तुम कौन सा सीलिंग फैन खरीद रहे हो ?
Which ceiling fan are you buying?
- मोहन अब कहाँ जा रहा है ?
Where are Mohan going now?
