In the afternoon he would return to the village with them. Every night his grandmother used to tell him a story – the story of the stars. Sahil was interested in this story.
One of those days, when Sahil was tending his flock and playing his flute, he suddenly saw a wonderful light behind a flowering bush. When he reached the bush he saw a transparent and very beautiful crystal ball.
The crystal ball was shining like a colourful rainbow. Sahil carefully took it in his hand and turned it around. To his surprise, he suddenly heard a faint sound from the crystal ball. It said, “You can make a wish whatever your heart desires and I will fulfil it.”
Sahil could not believe that he heard a voice. When he made sure that he had indeed heard that sound from the crystal ball, he was very confused. He had so many desires that he could not decide on a particular desire. He said to himself, ‘If I wait till tomorrow, I will remember many things. Then I will fulfil my wish.’
He put the crystal ball in a bag and gathered the herd and happily returned to the village. He decided not to tell anyone about the crystal ball.
Even the next day, Sahil couldn’t decide what to ask for, as he had everything he needed.
Days passed as usual, but Sahil was still unable to fulfil his wish. But he looked very happy. The people around him were amazed to see this change in his nature.
One day, a boy followed Sahil and his herd and hid behind a tree. Sahil sat in a corner, as usual, took out the crystal ball and looked at it for a moment. The boy waited for the moment when Sahil would fall asleep. When Sahil fell asleep after some time, the boy ran away with the crystal ball.
When he reached the village, he called all the people and showed them the crystal ball. The citizens of that village took the crystal ball in their hands and whirled it in wonder. Suddenly he heard a voice from inside the crystal ball saying, “I can grant your wish.” A man took the ball and shouted, “I want a bag full of gold.” The other took the ball and said loudly, “I want two chests full of jewels.” Some of them wished that they had their palace with a grand gate made of pure gold instead of their old houses. Some others wished for a bag full of jewels.
All their wishes were fulfilled, but still, the citizens of the village were not happy. They were jealous because the one who had the palace didn’t have the gold and the one who had the gold didn’t have the palace. Due to this the people of the village got angry with each other and stopped talking to each other. The village gardens where children used to play are gone. There were palaces and gold everywhere. The children became very sad. Only Sahil and his family were happy and content. He used to play the flute every morning and evening.
One day the children of the village took the crystal ball to Sahil. The children said to Sahil, “When we had a small village, we were all happy and joyful.” The parents also spoke. He said, “We are all unhappy in some way or the other. It is the luxurious palaces and jewels that cause us pain.”
When Sahil saw that people were repenting, he said, “Even though the crystal ball asked me to ask for something, I have not done so yet. But if you want everything to be in its place Come back, I wish it.”
Everyone happily agreed. Nasir takes the crystal ball in his hand, spins it and wishes that the village should be as it was before. In a moment the palaces disappeared, green gardens became visible and the same old village with trees and plants came.

एक बार फिर लोग खुशी से रहने लगे और बच्चे पेड़ों की छाँव में खेलने लगे। साहिल ने सूर्यास्त के समय अपनी बांसुरी बजाते हुए हर दिन अपना संतुष्ट जीवन जारी रखा। इसकी मधुर ध्वनि पूरे सुन्दर हरे-भरे गाँव में सुनाई देती थी।
Moral: हमारे पास जो कुछ भी है उसमें हमें खुश रहना चाहिए और लालची नहीं होना चाहिए।

2. A clever jackal
One day a clever jackal was wandering here and there in search of food in the forest. He had not eaten for three days and was very hungry. He knew that if this goes on for one more day, he might die. So, he sat down and thought about how to get some food.
He knew that a farmer named Jack had a sugarcane field on the border of the forest. Jack’s sugarcane fields had grown and he was planning to cut them down. He had enclosed the boundary wall of the field so that the wild animals would not attack and destroy the sugarcane. Jack built a small tree house so that he could stay there at night to watch over the farm.
One night when he was sitting on his tree house, the clever jackal came to him. He said to the farmer, “Dear sir, a huge elephant is going to attack your farm soon. There was a shortage of food in the forest, so the big elephant living in the forest decided to attack his farm. So be prepared ” Your weapon.”

The clever jackal then went to the oak tree. He knew that a snake lived under the tree. He called to the snake and said to him, “Dear sir, you are in great danger. The farmer, who owns the sugarcane field, is planning to kill you tonight. Have you ever seen him?”
“Yeah, yeah! Isn’t his name Jack?”
“Well, he has decided to destroy you and your family because you are a nuisance to his livestock”, said the jackal.
“What shall I do, my dear jackal? He is big and always carries a weapon.”
The jackal said, “Don’t worry, he plans to come here tonight and will hide behind the tree. Before he can react, go and bite him two or three times and that will be the end of Jack”…
The jackal wished him success and said goodbye. He was sure that his plan would work and if all went well, he would have a dead elephant, man and snake the next day. This much meat should be enough for a month and a half.
At midnight the elephant slowly entered the sugarcane fields as per the plan. When the farmer saw the elephants, he took out his bow and arrow and shot three arrows at the elephant. The elephant moaned in pain and fell. Jack came down from the tree and as soon as he came down, he felt a sharp pain in his ankles. He felt as if an insect had bitten him twice. 3. Hidden Treasure:

The youth was overjoyed and asked where his father had kept the treasure. The old man replied, “I do not remember the exact place where I have hidden the treasure. However, the treasure box is buried in our land. I am not sure about the place where I have hidden the treasure.” ”

युवक बहुत खुश हुए और पूछा कि उनके पिता ने खजाना कहाँ रखा था। बूढ़े व्यक्ति ने उत्तर दिया, “मुझे वह स्थान ठीक से याद नहीं है जहाँ मैंने खजाना छिपाया है। हालाँकि, खजाने का बक्सा हमारी भूमि में दबा हुआ है। मैं वास्तव में उस स्थान के बारे में निश्चित नहीं हूँ जहाँ मैंने खजाने को छिपाया है ।”
यद्यपि आलसी युवा पुत्र खुश थे, वे इस बात से दुखी थे कि बूढ़ा उस जगह को भूल गया था जहाँ खजाना छिपा था। कुछ दिनों बाद बूढ़ा मर गया। बेटों ने खजाने का बक्सा खोजने के लिए जमीन खोदने का फैसला किया।
उन्होंने बहुत मेहनत की और अपनी जमीन खोदी। उन्हें भूमि में कोई खजाना बक्सा नहीं मिला। अंत में, उन्होंने अपनी जमीन में एक ऐसी जगह खोदने का फैसला किया जो बाकी इलाके से थोड़ी अलग थी। पुत्रों का मानना था कि उस स्थान पर खजाना दबा हुआ है। उन्होंने उस स्थान की गहराई तक खुदाई की, परन्तु पानी के सिवा कुछ न मिला।
घटनास्थल से जमीन और पानी बहता देख एक राहगीर ने बेटों से खेती करने की बात कही। उनकी सलाह पर चारों बेटों ने सब्जी के बीज बोए और अपनी जमीन में साग-सब्जी और फूल वाले पौधे लगाए। चूंकि भूमि प्रचुर मात्रा में पानी के साथ बहुत उपजाऊ थी, कुछ ही हफ्तों में यह पौष्टिक सब्जियों और साग के साथ एक उपजाऊ उद्यान बन गया। चारों बेटों ने अच्छी कीमत पर सब्जियां बेचीं और अच्छी खासी कमाई की।
तब उन्होंने महसूस किया कि यह कड़ी मेहनत थी जिसे उनके पिता ने ‘खजाने का बक्सा’ कहा था। धीरे-धीरे चारों पुत्रों ने आलस्य पर विजय प्राप्त की, परिश्रम किया, अधिक धन कमाया और सुखपूर्वक रहने लगे।
Moral: कड़ी मेहनत हमेशा भुगतान करती है। जो किसी खजाने से कम नही होती है।
4. A wise deer and a cowardly tiger:
There was a dense forest on the side of a mountain. Many types of animals lived in the forest. A doe was eating grass and leaves with her two cubs. His children were running here and there happily. The deer chased its kids. The fawns entered a cave. The deer got scared. This was the cave of the tiger. There were bones of dead animals all around the cave. Fortunately, the tiger was not inside the cave at that time.
The doe was trying to get her kids out of the cave. At the same time, he heard a roar. He saw the tiger at a distance. The tiger was coming towards the cave. Now it was dangerous to get out of the cave. He thought of a plan. The tiger had come close to the cave. The deer raised her voice and shouted, “My baby deer don’t cry. I’ll catch a tiger for you to eat. You can have a nice dinner.”
The tiger heard these words. He was upset. He said to himself, “Who is this strange voice from the cave? A dangerous animal is living inside to catch me. I will run away to avoid death.”
Saying this, the tiger started running away from there.
A jackal saw a running tiger. The jackal asked, “Why are you running away in great fear?” The tiger said that some dangerous animal has come to kill me, so I am running away in great fear.
The sly jackal was now at ease. The tiger was a coward. It said to the tiger. “Don’t be afraid. No animal is more fierce or more powerful than a tiger. Let’s find out together.”
But the tiger said, “I don’t want to take any risk. You can run away. I will be left alone to die. Therefore, I will not come with you.”
The jackal said, “Trust me. Let us find our tails together. Then I will not be able to leave you.”
Tiger reluctantly agreed to the offer. The jackal knotted his tail. Now together they started towards the cave.
The deer saw the jackal and the tiger coming together. He raised his voice again. She shouted to her children standing inside the cave, “My dear children, I requested my friend, the clever jackal, to capture a tiger for us. Now look the jackal has caught a tiger for us. He has tied the tiger’s tail to his tail. This is to prevent the tiger from running away. You’ll soon have a tiger for us to eat.”
The tiger heard this. He was startled. He was convinced now. The jackal cheated him. So, the tiger decided to escape from the terrifying beast standing inside his cave. He started running. He forgot about the jackal. He dragged the jackal over rocks and thorns. In the mad escape, the jackal got trapped between two rocks. The tiger pulled with all his might. His tail was cut off. The jackal died in this incident. The tailless tiger fled to another part of the forest.
The deer and her cubs left the tiger’s den. They safely joined their herd.
Moral: The presence of mind and intellect can save us from dangerous situations.

हिरनी अपने बच्चों को गुफा से बाहर निकालने की कोशिश कर रही थी। उसी समय उसे एक जोर की दहाड़ सुनाई दी। उसने कुछ ही दूरी पर बाघ को देखा। बाघ गुफा की ओर आ रहा था। अब गुफा से बाहर निकलना खतरनाक था। उसने एक योजना के बारे में सोचा। बाघ गुफा के करीब आ गया था। हिरनी ने आवाज उठाई और चिल्लाई, “मेरे हिरण के छोटे बच्चे रोते नहीं हैं। मैं तुम्हारे खाने के लिए एक बाघ पकड़ लूंगा। आप अच्छा डिनर कर सकते हैं।”
बाघ ने ये शब्द सुने। वह परेशान था। उसने अपने आप से कहा, “गुफा से यह अजीब आवाज किसकी है? एक खतरनाक जानवर मुझे पकड़ने के लिए अंदर रह रहा है। मैं मौत से बचने के लिए भाग जाऊंगा।”
इतना कहकर बाघ वहां से तेजी से भागने लगा।
एक सियार ने दौड़ते हुए बाघ को देखा। सियार ने पूछा, “तुम बड़े डर के क्यों भाग रहे हो?” बाघ ने कहा कोई खतरनाक जानवर मुझे मारने आया है इसलिए, मैं बड़े डर से भाग रहा हूं।
धूर्त सियार अब निश्चिंत था। बाघ कायर था। इसने बाघ से कहा। “डरो नहीं। कोई भी जानवर बाघ से ज्यादा भयंकर या ताकतवर नहीं है। आइए हम मिलकर इसका पता लगाएं।”
लेकिन बाघ ने कहा, “मैं कोई जोखिम नहीं लेना चाहता। आप भाग सकते हैं। मुझे मरने के लिए अकेला छोड़ दिया जाएगा। इसलिए, मैं तुम्हारे साथ नहीं आऊँगा।”
सियार ने कहा, “मुझ पर विश्वास करो। आइए हम अपनी पूंछ एक साथ जानें। फिर मैं तुम्हें छोड़ नहीं पाऊंगा।”
बाघ अनिच्छा से इस प्रस्ताव पर सहमत हो गया। सियार ने उनकी पूँछ में गांठ लगा दी। अब वे एक साथ गुफा की ओर चल पड़े।
हिरण ने सियार और बाघ को एक साथ आते देखा। उसने फिर आवाज उठाई। वह गुफा के अंदर खड़े अपने बच्चों की ओर चिल्लाई, “मेरे प्यारे बच्चों, मैंने अपने दोस्त, चतुर सियार से अनुरोध किया था कि वह हमारे लिए एक बाघ को पकड़ ले। अब देखो सियार ने हमारे लिए एक बाघ को पकड़ लिया है। उसने बाघ की पूंछ को अपनी पूंछ से बांध रखा है। यह बाघ को भागने से रोकने के लिए है। हमारे खाने के लिए जल्द ही आपके पास बाघ होगा।”
