Exercise – 1
रवि मेरा सबसे छोटा पुत्र है । वह प्रतिदिन 6 बजे उठता है । वह प्रतिदिन विश्वकर्मा पार्क में टहलने जाता है । नाश्ता करने के पश्चात वह दो घण्टे अध्ययन करता है । उसका कार्य सदैव पूरा रहता है । वह कालिज ठीक समय पर जाता है । खाली घण्टों में वह अपना समय नष्ट नहीं करता है । वह पुस्तकालय में कभी भी शोर नहीं मचाता है । क्या उसके अध्यापक उससे अप्रसन्न रहते हैं ? नहीं , सब उसे एक अच्छा लड़का मानते हैं । उसे पढ़ने से ही फुरसत नहीं मिलती है । ऐसे लड़के परिवार के यश में वृद्धि करते हैं । मुझे अपने पुत्र पर गर्व है ।

Ravi is my youngest son. He gets up at 6 every day. He goes for a walk in Vishwakarma Park everyday. After having breakfast, he studies for two hours. His work is always complete. He goes to college on time. He does not waste his time in idle hours. He never makes noise in the library. Are his teachers unhappy with him? No, everyone considers him a good boy. He doesn’t get free time just by reading it. Such boys increase the fame of the family. I am proud of my son.

एक लड़का सड़क पर दौड़ रहा है। उसके दोस्त साइकिल पर जा रहे हैं। एक आदमी उन्हें बुला रहा है। वे उसकी बात नहीं सुन रहे हैं। पीछे से एक ट्रक आ रहा है। ट्रक में कुछ राजनेता बैठे हैं। ट्रक का ड्राइवर उसे रोक रहा है। पुलिसकर्मी एक-एक करके नीचे उतर रहे हैं। वे लड़के से बात कर रहे हैं, क्या वह उनकी बात नहीं सुन रहा है? अब क्यों रो रहा है ? उसके दोस्त अपने गांव वापस जा रहे हैं।

A boy is running on the road . His friends are going on cycles . A man is calling them .They are not listening to him . A truck is coming from behind . Some politicians are sitting in the truck .The driver of the truck is stopping it . The policemen are getting down one by one .They are talking to the boy , Is he not listening to them ? Why is he weeping now ? His friends are going back to their villages .

रमेश दिल्ली में तीन वर्ष रह चुका है । वह आज आगरा चला गया है । उसके साथ उसका छोटा भाई मुकेश नहीं गया है । क्या तुमने मुकेश के न जाने का कारण ज्ञात कर लिया है ? आगरा में रमेश ने ताजमहल पहली बार देखा है । ताजमहल के सौन्दर्य ने उसे बड़ा प्रभावित किया है । ताजमहल देखने के पश्चात उसने फतेहपुर सीकरी तथा सिकन्दरा देखने का भी कार्यक्रम बना लिया है । आगरा के प्रसिद्ध उर्दू शायर ( कवि ) नज़ीर अकबराबादी ने भी ताजमहल के सौन्दर्य की प्रशंसा की है । आपने अभी तक ताजमहल के विषय में अपने विचार प्रस्तुत क्यों नहीं किये हैं ? इस प्रकार की लापरवाही के लिए रमेश ने आपको उत्तरदायी घोषित कर दिया है ।

टेलीफोन की घण्टी दो मिनट से लगातार बजती रही है । वह आज दिनभर कार्य करता रहा है । यह छोटा बच्चा रातभर दर्द से चिल्लाता रहा है । क्या आप दिनभर सड़क पर खड़े होकर क्रिकेट मैच की कमेन्ट्री नहीं सुनते रहे हैं ? मेरे भाई को गत शनिवार से बुखार आता रहा है । क्या ये विद्यार्थी दस मिनट से ईश्वर की प्रार्थना नहीं करते रहे है ? मैनेजर साहब दोपहर से मन्दिर में पूजा कर रहे है । स्वामी जी शाम से कुछ भी नहीं खा रहे हैं । लम्बे समय से मानव पृथ्वी के रहस्यों को जानने के लिए चेष्टा करता रहा है । ये ऐक्टर महीनों से नाटक का रिहर्सल करते रहे हैं ।

The telephone has been ringing continuously for two minutes. He has been working all day today. This little child has been crying out in pain all night. Have you not been standing on the road all day long listening to the commentary of the cricket match? My brother has been having fever since last Saturday. Have these students not been praying to God for ten minutes ? The manager has been worshiping in the temple since afternoon. Swami ji has not been eating anything since evening. For a long time man has been trying to know the secrets of the earth. These actors have been rehearsing the play for months.
2. Past tense Hindi to English story translation practice
Exercise – 1
विक्रमादित्य उज्जैन के राजा थे । उज्जैन उनकी राजधानी थी । वे बुद्धिमान तथा न्यायप्रिय नरेश थे । उन्होंने कभी किसी निर्दोष व्यक्ति को दण्डित नहीं किया । अपराधी उनसे सदैव डरते रहते थे । उनके दरबार में बहुत से विद्वान रहते थे । कालीदास राजा के नवरत्नों में से एक था । कालीदास ने कई प्रसिद्ध नाटकों की रचना की । शकुन्तला उनका सर्वश्रेष्ठ नाटक था क्या कोई अन्य नाटककार शकुन्तला जैसे उच्च कोटि के नाटक लिख सका ? नहीं , यह कार्य असम्भव था । उस समय कालीदास का मुकाबला कोई नहीं कर सका ।

Vikramaditya was the king of Ujjain. Ujjain was his capital. He was a wise and just king. He never punished any innocent person. Criminals were always afraid of him. Many scholars lived in his court. Kalidas was one of the Navaratnas of the king. Kalidas composed many famous plays. Shakuntala was his best play. Could any other playwright have written such high quality plays like Shakuntala? No, this task was impossible. At that time no one could compete with Kalidas.

रमेश अपने भाई के साथ लखनऊ जा रहा था। खिलाड़ी कल अच्छा नहीं खेल रहे थे। वे एक हारा हुआ मैच खेल रहे थे। सचिन अच्छा कर रहे थे। कल तुम गरीब भिखारी का अपमान क्यों कर रहे थे ? सीता अच्छा नहीं गा रही थी। आप कल रात क्या कर रहे थे ? शाम को तुम्हें इतिहास कौन पढ़ा रहा था ? कुछ लड़के ध्यान से अपना काम कर रहे थे। पिताजी उस समय हिन्दुस्तान टाइम्स पढ़ रहे थे।

जब हम पहुंचे तो शो शुरू हो चुका था। अपना होमवर्क पूरा करने के बाद मैं बिस्तर पर चला गया। शिक्षक के छुट्टी पर जाने से पहले मैं उनसे मिला था। मैंने उसके लिए जो किया उसके लिए उसने मुझे धन्यवाद दिया। काश तुमने अपने पिता से सच कहा होता। काश मैंने अपने दोस्त की सलाह को नज़रअंदाज़ न किया होता। रमेश ने मुझे बताया कि घर जाते समय उसकी मुलाकात कुछ गुंडों से हुई थी। जब हम थियेटर पहुंचे तो नाटक शुरू हो चुका था। आठ बजे तक सभी दुकानें बंद हो चुकी थीं। बीस साल की उम्र में मैं ग्रेजुएट हो गया था। क्या उसके मुझसे मिलने से पहले मैंने अपना काम पूरा नहीं कर लिया था ? उसने बताया कि वह छह दिन से बीमार है। लड़कों के आने से पहले चपरासी ने घंटी क्यों नहीं बजाई थी ? क्या सूरज उगने से पहले बारिश नहीं रुकी थी ? क्या पुलिस के गोली चलाने से पहले लोग तितर-बितर हो गए थे ?
